Q1. I would like to make a personal donation. How do I do it?
A. With a cheque made out to the AVCAT Gift Fund (for address, see Contact Details) If you wish to arrange a bank transfer, call us and we will give you the bank account details. If you do not receive an acknowledgement with thanks and a Gift Deductible Receipt within a week, call us.
Q2. If we sponsor a scholarship or bursary, how is that acknowledged?
A. The sponsor has the right to name the scheme. Their assistance is also acknowledged, unless they wish otherwise, in the material published by AVCAT and on suitable, public occasions.
Q3. As a scheme sponsor, I would like to be able to say who should be eligible to receive assistance. Can I?
A. You can determine your own criteria, for example where applicants are to come from, with our common core conditions (see eligibility). You also have the final say as to who is selected from the small panel recommended by the selection Committee.
Q4. We would like to meet and follow the progress of those selected for our scheme. Can we?
A. Yes. Sponsors are invited to the functions in each capital city each year where those selected are presented with Certificates of Award. They also receive annual reports on the progress of their students.
Q5. How can we be sure that the money we intend to pay to the recipients is used for that purposes?
A. Money to pay recipients for each sponsored scheme is treated in the accounts of AVCAT as trust funds. Each year, sponsors receive an audited statement of monies so paid. If there is recipient money at credit, because of, for example, a recipient ceasing to be eligible for continuing payments, the sponsor decides on the use of that money.
Q6. What about your finances generally?
A. AVCAT is public company and lodges its audited annual accounts with ASIC each year. Under our Constitution, we also provide the Minister for Veterans' Affairs with an annual financial report.
