Top Level Domains (TLDs) are to domains as family names are to people names
In order to preserve names in the cyberspace, we have .com, .net, .org and other names appended to a common name. These "suffixes" that comes after your domain name are called Top Level Domains, or TLDs. For example, the TLD of accsoft.com.au is .com.au and the one of onmyweb.net is .net.
TLDs that are not country specific are called Generic Top Level Domains (gTLDs). e.g. .com, .net, .org, .biz and .info. TLDs that are country specific are called Country Code Top Level Domain (ccTLDs). e.g. .com.au. A list of ccTLDs can be found at http://www.iana.org/cctld/cctld-whois.htm.
Internet Addresses are governed by ICANN and registries in different countries around the world. Australian domain names are governed by auDA, who license the right to allocate and manage domain names to various registrars in Australia. For example, INWW (a division of Melbourne IT) is the largest registrar for the .com.au ccTLD.
Accsoft has been an authorised ISP for INWW since 1996 when Melbourne IT first assumed the right of .com.au. The long and trusted relation with INWW and the ample experience on business domain names enable Accsoft to provide domain name parking, registration, delegation and renewal services of highest quality to your business.
